Each November the JSIS PTSA kicks off a fundraiser called the Student's First Campaign, which pays for Instructional Assistants, language interns, social/emotional learning, and other resources.

Alongside the Student's First Campaign is the fundraiser for our Educational Equity Fund, which helps raise money to support other SPS schools that are not as well resourced as JSIS.

Throughout the year there are other small opportunities to donate to the PTSA, but we encourage you to do the bulk of your donating through the Student's First Campaign.

Thank you for your support!

Your generosity sustains our mission, enriches our students’ education, and strengthens our commitment to educational equity. Thank you for being a vital part of our community and for putting our students first.

STUDENTS FIRST FUND

State funding today doesn't cover basic educational needs. As a result, SPS relies on local levy funds and we rely on our community's support to cover the remaining gap.

This year, we aim to raise $390,000 — about $1,000 per student. Gifts of any size make a difference, and we invite you to contribute in a way that feels right for your family. There are many ways to support JSIS whether through donations, volunteering, or sharing your talents.

EDUCATIONAL EQUITY FUND

At JSIS we’re committed to a more equitable public school system. Alongside our SFC campaign, we are raising funds for the Educational Equity Fund, a separate initiative supporting SPS schools with less access to private funding than ours.

Contributions to the Educational Equity Fund make a significant difference in creating educational equity throughout Seattle Public Schools.

Our goal this year is $39,000.

Instructional Assistants & Language Interns

Our interns and assistants allow for low student- to-teacher ratio. We do this by fully funding secondary instructors who work across our immersion classrooms, as well as interns from Japan, Latin America, and Spain.

Support Services and Resources

These funds help provide services that encourage socio-emotional learning, as well as provide additional resources such as curriculum enrichment, supplies, training, and other academic needs.

Advancing Educational Equity

The JSIS Educational Equity Fund addresses disparities in SPS by raising funds to support under-resourced schools. Recognizing the state’s insufficient funding, the JSIS PTSA has created this fund as a voluntary effort to promote educational equity across SPS.

In January we solicit feedback from the JSIS community on where we should donate the funds. The PTSA board votes in February and distributes funds to the selected schools in need.
